Book Review: Courageous Women of the Bible

I have the great privilege to review a wonderful book, Courageous Women of the Bible: Leaving Behind Fear & Insecurity for a Life of Confidence and Freedom, by Latan Roland Murphy.

When I read the title of this book, my attention was immediately caught. My heart was shouting, YES! I want to hear of the courageous women in the larger story! I want to leave fear behind. I want to leave insecurity behind. And yes, I want a life of confidence and freedom! Lets go!

Latan opens the book with an introduction into what courage is and why it is a desirable character trait. She also explains where God can meet us in our fear and equip us to be women of courage.

In this book, Latan highlights eleven courageous women of the Bible:

  • Deborah
  • The Woman with an Issue of Blood
  • The Widow with Two Coins
  • Jael
  • Abigail
  • Bathsheba
  • The Samaritan Woman
  • Mary, Mother of Jesus
  • The Shulammite Woman
  • Jochebed
  • The Shunammite Woman

Each woman Latan chose, was human just like you and me. In their courage, they became fully alive as messengers, warriors and leaders. Latan invites us to see ourselves in each of these women through the lens of our Father. She challenges us to go deeper at the end of each chapter with further reading and introspective questioning. In addition, Latan has provided a special chapter at the end of the book, devoted to journaling our thoughts and feelings as they correspond to each courageous woman of the bible.

If you would like one FREE, I have the great pleasure to give away one copy of Courageous Women of the Bible: Leaving Behind Fear and Insecurity for a Life of Confidence and Freedom. If you would like to win, please like and share this post on Facebook by Monday, June 11, 2018 at 11:59pm MST.
